Man overboard at Panerai Classic Challenge

Hanging in the there.....just! How this bowman aboard George Embiricos's 1940 John Alden yawl Lucia, managed to clamber back aboard during yesterday's Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge regatta in Porto Rotondo, Sardinia, we'll never quite know.

That's Kenny Coombs from Antigua on deck, wondering where his bowman had gone as they prepared to drop the A sail as they reached into the finish. The answer was over the side as he appeared to slip on the genoa and then tumble seawards.

Just as the man overboard looked as though he couldn't hang on any longer Kenny got to him and strong armed him into the boat, quite a feat as Lucia was reaching at about 10 knots.

This sequence was caught by Richard Langdon of Ocean Images and you'll be able to see at lot more of his Panerai regatta photography in an upcoming issue of Yachting World.
